Baylor University Christmas on 5th logo

December 4, 2023

UPDATE: Due to impending weather, see below regarding change in date. Sweater weather, hot chocolate, roaring fires, snowfall (sometimes, at least). Christmas season is unquestionably the most wonderful time of the year — and at Baylor, the most wonderful time of the year officially begins with Christmas on 5th Street.

WEATHER UPDATE: Christmas at Baylor has always been a magical time, and no one event on our campus symbolizes this better than our annual Christmas on 5th Street celebration. It is with sadness that we have to change our plans this year.

El Niño weather has impacted a number of our events this fall, and it is forcing us to rethink yet another. Due to the impending threat of storms, Christmas on 5th will not take place Thursday, November 30.

Though we are disappointed in the change of date, we are not canceling, but moving as much of the event as possible to Monday, December 4, from 5 to 9 p.m. We encourage you to come out on Monday for the tree lighting and fellowship with our Baylor Family. We have updated this website with a new schedule for Monday night, and we may continue to add events over the coming days. So check back to see updates. We can’t wait to gather together to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The decision to postpone was not one made lightly, and there are no Bears more disappointed to have to change our plans than those who have spent the past 12 months planning the event. The decision was made with the knowledge that even if the rain subsides before the evening, there will not be enough time to set up the planned events. Immense thanks to the student leaders and staff who have worked tirelessly on this year's event and for the effort needed to shift everything to Monday.
